We currently have Community Support Specialist (CSS) positions open in Ottawa and Allegan counties. Community Support Specialists work with individuals to help them develop and improve skills that lead them to a “beautiful life”. Supports are provided to assist individuals in learning and increasing skills needed for self-sufficiency, community membership, relationship development, and at times, employment or volunteer work. As a Community Support Specialist, you also have the opportunity to:
- To be a friend to someone with an intellectual disability, mental illness or traumatic brain injury.
- Make a positive impact on someone’s life through respectful and compassionate support.
- Help people discover and achieve their dreams and aspirations.
- Be an advocate and help fight the stigma that keeps people segregated from others and their community.
- Provide protection and therapeutic support to individuals who may have previously experienced abuse, neglect or other trauma and mistreatment.

Ideal candidates will have a strong sense of compassion for others and a desire to serve the community. Paid training is provided. All applicants are required to have a clean criminal background, a valid driver’s license with no restrictions, no Recipient Rights violations, and be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
